Bala, Muskoka

a little slice of heaven on earth.
beer bong champions. 'arange' and fruit joke get rich quick scheme. party canoe reputations. late night water trampoline. all day blue skies. white bikini burns. party jenga. duck friend turned enemy. 20 taquitos. 54-40. hurry scurry: bronze metal. friendship bracelets mean forever.
burnt, hungover, dirty and tired - and couldn't be happier.

let's go!

get sweaty

Winter is an aeon in Canada and the whole time we complain about putting on a million clothes to keep warm. But we do it because there is no other way to be comfortable (and avoid the flu) without bundling up the size of the Michelin Man.
I like complaining, but when it's sunny summer, we lose the the right to complain. Yet, all summer I hear people complain about how hot it is. Are you kidding me? Enjoy it while you can; Canada has six months of brutal freezing hell (which I thankfully escaped last year!). But no, you can't enjoy it. You hate it so much you turn the A/C on and make it feel like winter. It's okay to sweat! If you are hot, wear less clothes.
Summer heat is three months max - quit your bitchin' and get so into summer it makes you sick.

iles

On a smoldering day in Toronto, we escaped the din of the city (not to mention the extreme heatwave) to the greatest little downtown getaway.  The Toronto Islands are a chain of small islands in the city. They are located in Lake Ontario just offshore from the city centre. After a quick 15 minute fairy ride, we arrive at Hanlan's point, which is way quieter than Centre Island and hey, there's even a clothing optional beach (though, there are no sights you'd like to see).
The island is so laid back for Toronto and you know I always crave an escape.

Beaches, greenery, and scenery. Toes in the sand.

 stay cool,

“The difficulty is that every firm step I win out of chaos is a firm step towards…more chaos. I throw a rope bridge, haul myself across the gap, and huddled on a little outcrop, safe for now, observe the view. What is the view? Another gap, another stretch of water.”

- Excerpt from Jeanette Winterson’s book, Gut Symmetries”
