Virtual Reality

You can’t bring your old habits here ... If you want to participate, you will have to reinvent yourself

I'm very inspired by Jonathan Zawada's work, especially his series "Over Time". It is a wonderful collection of topographical graph paintings in which he explores and extrapolates  information over time . The information does not seem as though it should relate. For example: “Marijuana usage among year 12 students vs. CD and Vinyl record sales between 1975 and 2000”. The data is then manipulated through a 3D fractal program and the resulting environment becomes a virtual abstraction that mimics a mountainous landscape. I love how they feel familiar and dissimilar all at once.
